Description

Chestnut Homecare understand that a need for assistance and support may be over a 24 hour period. We appreciate the need to provide to provide a service that is tailor-made but is within a budget. We do not stipulate what time the night care starts and ends as this would be part of an agreed package on assessment.

Night time can seem extremely long to some people, whether they are the person needing support or the carer (especially a family member) the responsibility factor can be very stressful when looking after a relative or a friend at home. A requirement for assistance/support over night can be for varying needs. It may be that the person roams at will around the house (putting themself at risk of harm) or requires assistance to take regular fluids or snacks, assisting to the toilet, management of catheters, incontinence management, re-positioning throughout the night to avoid skin damage, administration of medications, or simply someone to be present in the house.

Whatever a persons need, Chestnut Homecare are able to provide care staff with the appropriate level of experience, knowledge and skills. We are aware that not all people have a bedtime that is within usual range, a persons choice of going to bed and getting up is personal to them.

Our aim is provide and maintain a service that is at a time to suit the individual, which takes into account an individuals choice, what is important to them, maintain their independence, and encourage them to be in control and to deliver what a person actually wants. It may be that the night carer could do some light household duties during the night if a person is sleeping. This could include preparation of food for the next day, ironing, folding laundry, or maybe just reading to a person that is awake whilst monitoring any health needs.

This could have financial benefit, as a person could have light domestic tasks completed alongside the night care provision, however this would depend upon outcomes of assessment and an agreed support/care plan.

We offer a no-obligation, free of charge initial meeting to discuss your needs. If you would like Chestnut Homecare to provide care staff for overnight care provision then we will complete a holistic assessment with the person at the centre of choice and control and will formulate a support/care plan.
