Description
Chestnut Homecare employ staff with varying levels of skills, these include management and hands on care skills to include complex care. We would define complex care as different from basic personal care owing to the fact that the staff require additional training and competencies in assessment, planning, delivery and reviewing of individual needs.
It may be that you require a team of staff that are hand picked and who only visit the one person (rather than drop in shorter visits). It may be assessed that owing to a persons needs being complex, the visits required are longer and may require 2 members of staff every visit.
Chestnut Homecare strive to ensure that people are matched and hold the necessary qualifications both personally and professionally to be part of a tailor-made service for complex care (and any other service we provide). All of our staff are Enhanced CRB checked and u to date with both mandatory, specialised and company training requirements in order to provide a service that is safe and of a high standard. We listen effectively to those requesting complex care as they are the experts in knowing what is required from us as a care provider.
Personalisation, choice, positive risk taking, respect and stating in control are vital for a person to remain empowered in reaching their personal goals and getting what they require from this service. We employ a registered nurse who is able to supervise the care assistants and work alongside the community nurses in ensuring all clinical needs are of a high standard and delivered in a safe manner.
Complex care needs may include management of:
• PRG Feeding (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastronomy)
• Stoma care/bowel care
• Urethral/supra pubic catheter care
• Notional/directly needs
• Simple dressings (replacing like for like or following a simple dressing technique as set it by a person district nurse
• Administration of prescribed medications
• Physiotherapy/Passive exercises as set out by a registered professional in this field
• Monitoring and management of diabetes, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, parkinsons disease (to name just a few conditions)
• Needs associated with acquired brain injury or spinal injury
• Dementia care and management of challenging behaviours
• Learning disability and management of challenging behaviours
The above list is not exhaustive but covers some of the conditions that may be associated with complex care needs.
We would be more than happy to just come out and discuss an individuals requirements, or commence the process of assessment of needs, develop an agreed support/care plan and begin a service as soon as required (we would require 48 hours at the very least to ensure we could begin service provision that is safe and appropriate). If an individual would like to be part of the recruitment process for a team od care staff that will be personal for them, we welcome this and build on empowering the individual.
