Description
We all occasionally need a bit of extra help. This could be because you have been ill, can’t manage all the chores you used to, or maybe there are just better things to do with your time! Whatever your reason it is nice to have someone you can rely on to do them for you. The Help at Home Service is available for people over the age of 50 who need assistance in running their home. Once Age UK West Sussex has been contacted, a member of the team will complete a home visit to discuss your needs.
What you can expect from the domestic support service:
• An initial home visit to ensure we understand your requirements
• Cleaning and general housework
• Laundry and ironing
• Bed making and changing
• Shopping on your behalf or accompanied
• Picking up prescriptions
• Basic food preparation
• Curtain and net hanging
• Occasional dog walks
• Spring cleans are also available.
• Skilled and qualified gardeners available in some areas – Please call to discuss charges
We match you with a Home Helper and provide on-going monitoring to ensure you are happy with the quality of the service. If the usual Home Helper is ever away, we can also provide temporary cover.
What does the service cost?
An administration charge for the Help at Home service may apply but this depends on where you live and if you receive a means tested benefit. We have funding from West Sussex County Council to provide a subsidised service, so please ask a member of our team for details.
Our hourly rates range from £9 to £14 per hour, but vary according to individual circumstance and location. You will be required pay the Home Helper the agreed hourly rate direct on the day of the visit.
This is a non-profit making service and we are happy to discuss your requirements on: 01903 726276 or please submit a 'request for further information' outlining your requirements and we will respond via the site.
