Ivy Mead is located in a small village on the outskirts of Barnsley town centre. The home delivers 24 hours care and support to individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. There are 2 purpose built homes within the grounds that accommodate 19 individuals, the houses are of brick construction and both houses have individual gardens and car parking facilities. House 1 accommodates 10 individuals and is of a mixed occupancy the house is built on 2 levels. The first floor consists of 8 bedrooms all of which have individual WC and wash basins. There are 3 walk-in shower rooms and a bathroom, all of these are placed strategically for easy access.

On the ground floor there are 2 bedrooms that have en-suite facilities including shower, WC and wash basins. These rooms offer wheelchair user access, 3 WC, 1 designed for wheelchair users and a private telephone booth. There is a spacious lounge / dinning area, a fully equipped modern kitchen, a sluice room and an activity room. All areas give access to the rear gardens.

House 2 offers a specialist service to females, this house is also on 2 levels and accommodates 9 individual females.

There are 8 bedrooms on the first floor and 1 on the ground floor, all furnished and decor to the same high standards as house 1. On the ground floor there is a large open plan lounge / dining area, large modern fully equipped kitchen, Sluice room and 3 WC, 1 designed for wheelchair access and a private telephone booth.

The homes location offers excellent access to local facilities and is on a main public transport route where buses can be caught to local towns i.e. Barnsley, Doncaster, Sheffield and Wakefield. The home is situated next door to the local general practitioners surgery and the ’Priory Campus’ where there are many educational and recreational courses and classes held.
Both houses have individual core teams and have high staffing ratios to ensure the needs of the individuals are met and maintained.
