Description

We provide support for vulnerable young people from 12 to 25 years old to have friendships outside of school and colleges. People we support have learning disabilities and difficulties, autism spectrum, mental health and children in care. We help link up friiends from school and offer volunteers and paid staff depending on the level of need.

See our provider store for more information about our organisation.

Our objective is to improve the lives of vulnerable young disabled people across the Barking and Dagenham area by increasing their social contacts and community experiences. We will do this by developing friendships using valued (by non disabled young people) resources, providing family support to gain everyone’s confidence and enabling peer support through actively encouraging friendships between both young people and their families.

We will support them to recruit staff and bring them together to share costs – thereby pooling resources and delivering best value for money.

We will facilitate community involvement and development via inclusion for all. As a result of our service young people will evidence a measurable increase in social interactions leading to increased levels of independence and empowerment, reduced feelings of social isolation and exclusion and improved mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. They will also benefit from increased levels of confidence and self esteem increasing their potential to find employment or participatory adult activities.

We also aim to develop a workforce for the future – supporting volunteers to develop skills and experience.
