About me: I am a friendly, trustworthy and reliable 44 year old male. I am offering my services as a Personal Assistant so that I can make a difference to the lives of people in my home town of Doncaster. My expertise is with adults with learning disabilities but I am also willing to work with the elderly.
I believe in supporting individuals to be as independent as possible, which helps raise self-esteem. I respect the different ways that people want to live, always listening to the views of the individual. Safety is very important although I always balance this with a thoughtful approach to risk-taking to ensure that the individual leads as full a life as possible.
For 18 years, I taught infant children in a variety of schools. During this time, I developed excellent communication skills, flexibility and a highly professional manner of working including keeping personal information confidential.
I have a full UK driving licence and am happy to support individuals to get out and about, for example, going to appointments, shopping and social activities with friends. In the home, I can offer support on how to clean, do laundry, make decisions and manage finances, all of which promote independence.
Please note, I do not offer personal care.
In all of my previous employments, I have developed excellent relationships with the people I worked with. I like to make sure that every day is a fun and positive experience.
