Mencap offers temporary care for people who are normally supported by family or carers, allowing them to take a break. This also gives the supported person the opportunity to make new friends and learn new skills.

Respite care is available to people with a learning disability that are normally supported by family or carers.
How can we support you?
We offer a range of support based on individual needs and aspirations. This can include support with:
• personal care
• social and leisure activities
• household tasks
• taking medication
• accessing college courses
• travel training
• building links with friends, family and the community
• making healthy lifestyle choices.
When is respite care available?
Support is tailored to the needs of each family and can be during the day, in the evening and/or at weekends.
Where is respite care available?
We offer this service to people living throughout England & Wales. We can provide support in the family home or out in the community. We can also enable individuals to take a short break away from home.
How can you access respite care?
You can access respite care using your personal budget or other form of direct payment, by paying with private funds, or with funding directly from your local authority.
Pricing information
The price specified is a guide and will vary depending on individual needs and requirements. We can enable individuals to pool funding and share support if appropriate.
