Weekend and School Holiday Clubs – Registered with Ofsted

Active offers a range of out of school clubs, exclusively for children and young people with additional needs, across Kirklees, Calderdale and Bradford.

Our activity base provide a clean, safe and stimulating environment where an extensive range of activities are available. It is also a base for trips out into the local community. The service provides opportunities for children and young people to relax and enjoy themselves with friends, try new activities, learn new skills and have fun. Active has a large, diverse staff team who have been trained to support the diverse and sometimes complex needs of our children and young people.

Children and young people are involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of the service using their preferred communication methods.

Staff are trained in the use of:

-          Person-centred approaches

-          Active support to maximise participation and engagement in activities

-          Positive behaviour support

-          Alternative communication methods including Makaton, BSL, PECS etc.

-          Intensive interaction

-          Specialist healthcare tasks e.g. Epipen, gastrostomy feeding, buccal midazolam etc.

Facilities include soft play gym, multisensory room, computer suite, large fully equipped kitchen for cooking and baking activities and much more!

Large car park, ramped access, hoist and profiling bed changing facilities. Wheelchair accessible transport between home and Activity Base available.

Weekend Club   9.00 to 15.00      Saturdays and Sundays

School Holiday Club         9.00 to 15.00      Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays

Actives include

-          Free-play and structured activities

-          Relaxation and sensory stimulation in multisensory room

-          Use of IT suite

-          Art and craft sessions

-          Cooking and baking activities

-          Stories, sing and sign, board games and jigsaws

-          Disco

-          Daily outing to locations such as parks, swimming baths, ten pin bowling etc
