Description

Based at Manor Oaks this is our most popular activity and is a chance to be part of a real working farm. Participants look after our pigs, chickens, horses, bees and rabbits and learn to grow, harvest and use fruit, vegetables and herbs for their own use and for use and sale in our farm shop cafe. The group also extend their skills through farm related activity including fencing, traditional crafts such as willow weaving and production of seasonal crafts for sale, including bird boxes, candles, planters and soap. Progression routes include working within our Commercial Landscape Team, Horse Care and running our burgeoning Market Garden Centre all of which give the chance to gain more work experience. Skills learnt include hand tools, power tools, animal husbandry, horticulture as well as a range of accredited Health & Safety training including Manual Handling. All progression is monitored and recorded through our Awards Scheme which e everyone is welcome to join.
