Description
In shared accommodation, clients have their own bedroom and share other rooms like the lounge, kitchen, bathroom and garden with other clients. People living in shared accommodation are encouraged to be as independent as possible. Everyone is treated as an individual and is encouraged to think about what they want for their future, and with the help of keyworkers, find ways to make these things happen.
When clients move into the house they work on a ‘support agreement’, which is drawn up with keyworkers at the ‘support agreement’ meeting. This is a plan that sets out what clients want to achieve, how they intend to reach their goals and what kind of support they would find most helpful from staff. For many clients it forms part of their care programme approach (CPA) which is the wider plan that involves people like social workers, psychiatrists and community psychiatric nurses, and is designed to address clients’ overall needs.
Community Action Halfway Home can offer clients a secure, comfortable home while they build their confidence before moving on into a home of their own. As well as getting to know the other people who live in the house, clients are able to meet people by getting involved in different activities, at Halfway and in the local community.
Costs vary depending on the type of accommodation offered and whether the client is eligible for housing benefit. The price of £20.00 is a typical price. During assessment workers will establish whether the client is able to afford the service.
