This mattress is designed for short term and home use for the prevention of bed sores. It is ideal for a patient being looked after at home who is recovering from an illness. The alternating pressure of the bubbles helps to stop the development of bed sores. The air pump is very quiet, even those with very good hearing after a short time do not hear the pumps operation. When unpacking there is often a slight plastic smell that is perfectly safe and will disappear fairly quickly.
