Description
A short term, live in enablement service assisting people with Learning Disabilities towards independence to become the people they want.
Why
We believe that people with a learning disability should be able to live as independently as they can and have opportunities and chances to learn the skills that assist with this.
What we provide
Skills such as cooking and other household tasks will be learned at Viscount, but others such as shopping, using buses will take place in the local community. Some skills will be learned in groups and others will be by yourself and the worker.
You are the most important person in this process. There may be other people important to you who may also assist you these people will identified and asked to assist you.
You will be expected to attend meetings called Reviews, every 4-6 weeks, where we will talk about how you are doing and what you need to do next.
During these meetings we will talk about when the time is right for you to move on from Viscount and what type of accommodation will suitable for you. The Viscount team will support you in your move.
How to access this service
You will be referred to Viscount when you have met with your Social Worker and have told them in what way you would like to live more independently. An Occupational Therapist (OT) will discuss with you which skills you want to learn and how.
You will then be asked to come along to Viscount House to meet the team and for us to get to know you and you get to know Viscount House.
If you move in to Viscount House you will need to sign a licence agreement, this allows you to stay for up to six months and lays out all the rules, this is an important document which you will be supported to understand.
You will have a named worker from the Viscount team who will assist you whilst you are at Viscount.
