Our vision is to provide meaningful experiences to maximize independence , personal development, health and well-being and employability skills through community based learning.
Our aim is for the trainees to develop competence, respect, dignity, responsibility, independence and to promote their inclusion within the local working community.
Greenworks is an exciting project, which will enable the trainee to feel empowered and be part of a vibrant work team undertaking real work tasks and assisted animal interventions.
The trainees will be instrumental in the grounds maintenance works, cultivating fruit and vegetables on the 3 acre site located in Cawthorne.
Trainees never stand on the sidelines, pitching in and getting their hands dirty come rain or shine. Alongside our horticultural and agricultural work Trainees and Volunteers also have the opportunity to carry out a number of routine domestic tasks to help develop their independent living skills. These include, planning and shopping, cooking meals, basic housekeeping, getting out and about in the community and residential experiences.
How it Works
At Greenworks we participate within a range of horticultural/agricultural based activities including garden maintenance, growing food and plants to sell and caring for a range of livestock. We support people in developing work and independence skills whilst having fun and making friends. The cost of attending Greenworks can be met through entitlement to Individual Budgets and as volunteers.
Price
At Greenworks we have a sliding scale. The cost is from £20-60 dependent on support requirements. This person centered approach allows us to assess individual Trainees to determine the cost for each person. Factors may include previous experience/support and a observational taster day which we recommend for everyone wanting to access Greenworks. A charge of £60 reflects a ratio of support of 1 member of staff to 4 trainees!
