We offer Free Family Dementia Training for those affected in Rotherham Area.

Our Dementia Outreach Family Workshops follow the success of our Alzheimer’s CARE Programme for CAREGivers which is now accredited by City & Guilds. The Dementia Family Workshops enable us to deliver, free of charge, support to family carers, family members and interested others. It is part of our local Dementia Outreach Programme.

The Workshops are of an internationally high standard. They are research based, carefully scripted and produced. This is to ensure quality, confidence, consistency and positive results.

Home Instead Senior Care provides one to one, carefully matched,  companionship, home help and personal care accross the Borough. This is part of our commitments as a leading Member of the Rotherham Dementia Action Alliance. Themes

The four Workshops follow different themes:

1.     ‘Alzheimer’s Disease or Other Dementias’ – gives participants a good basic understanding of the condition, its symptoms and impact on behaviours.

2.     ‘Capturing Life’s Journey’ – introduces the benefits of recording information about the life of the person and shows how this can be used to provide a better level of care. This section introduces the Life Journal.

3.     ‘Techniques to Manage Behaviours’ – demonstrates how some understanding together with a number of simple techniques can have a positive impact on the individual and carer alike.

4.     ‘Activities to Encourage Engagement’ – provides understanding, ideas and techniques to help the family carer engage their loved one.
