In June 2010 The Bridgewood Trust opened a second craft service adjacent to the horticulture service at Bryan Road, Edgerton. This service is mainly provided on a single level and is accessible for individuals with mobility requirements Bryan Road is also within walking distance of shops and public transport links.

The ethos of the Craft Centre is to provide individualised programmes incorporating each service users interests and preferences. Individual skills are promoted and developed in all aspects of the service. The Centre has a structured purposeful atmosphere, always working to develop new skills and interests and is very much service user led with regard to activities undertaken. Current activities include

Educational and Skills Development
Literacy and numeracy skills, use of Makaton
Independent travel, use of money
Shopping for food and various craft supplies
Healthy eating, cooking and baking
Gardening - keeping a wide range of vegetables and plants used in cooking and decoration
Crafts - making greeting cards, decorations and gifts which are sold in the craft shop
Photography - Stills and DVDs made of activities
Computing Skills, Library skills
Cultural days – sampling food, music and language from different cultures

Social and Community Involvement
Restoring and modernising old furniture for sale in the craft shop
Visits to places of interest – using our National Trust membership
Special events, one off activities, visits to art exhibitions etc.
Links with schools
Xylosound – music opportunities with an established group in Slaithwaite

Psychological and Physical Wellbeing
Relaxation, sensory stimulation, Tibetan head and aromatherapy massage
New age curling, crown green and ten pin bowling
Hiking, keep fit, singing, drama, dance and drumming group

Our list is not exhaustive and new opportunities are always being developed with the help of all our service users.

Some activities may incur a small charge, if for example there is an admission fee to a venue.

The service is open from 9.00am until 4.30pm Monday to Friday 49 weeks a year. We provide lunch and refreshments during the day, and can assist with transport if required. It is a great way to make friends, learn new skills and enjoy life.
