Description

Kemble House is a residential service located in lively Friern Barnet. Kemble House supports adults with Asperger syndrome or High Functioning Autism and is dedicated to helping people develop their independent living skills and social awareness to enable them to move onto more independent living.

Spectrum Star

The people we support have work through the Spectrum Star with a keyworker identifying areas of ability and difficulties.  The Therapeutic team and the individual then use the Star to develop a person centred support plan that meets their actual needs.  The Star is reviewed every 6 months (recommended) to see how the person is progressing in the 9 key areas.  We have found that they are proud to take their Star to their CPA to demonstrate how they are progressing and to prove that they are achieving something.

Clinical

Our service is led by an experienced and a diverse group of clinicians, therapists, support workers and manager, who all work holistically together to provide person centred care. Specialist clinical support underpins this service, offering individuals a consistent approach, encouraging people to maximise their potential in an environment that accommodates their needs.

Support

Our dedicated and experienced staff go above and beyond to support people reach their full potential. Our staff aim to help people understand their Autism better, develop coping strategies to overcome their anxieties and help them develop independent living skills and social awareness skills so they can live successfully in the community.

Individual needs

The people we support liaise with their keyworker to discuss their likes, interests, goals and aspirations. These could include starting a college course, having a job, wanting to cook or just having the confidence to go to the shops. Staff support people towards achieving their goals. This may require social stories, education on social rules, understanding body language and facial expressions.

Staff Support also includes practical skills such as;

  • independent living
  • budgeting
  • food preparation
  • shopping
  • self-care
  • access college courses
  • support to find a meaningful job
  • Lifestyle and Location

We support people to use local amenities to develop their social awareness and engagement with the local community. Our people enjoy using the local shops, colleges, leisure centres, bars, cinema, bowling alley and much more. Initially people are supported in the community with a keyworker, but as they demonstrate their coping abilities and social awareness skills they are able to access the community independently.

Kemble House is located in Friern Barnet, a busy town environment with lots of amenities on its door step. The service is between Muswell Hill and North Finchley, with easy access routes to both London and out to the country side.
