Description

The kitchen team cook and eat together, learning diverse cookery, food hygiene, service, healthy eating and budgeting skills. They make a range of dishes including soups, pies, cakes and buns, preserves and quiches and much more. The group extend the range and type of foods they enjoy and learn to cook for themselves and others at home. They are also involved in supporting Green Estates outside catering services including producing buffets, cooking for the weekly Luncheon Club and even Tudor banquets.

In addition the group produce food to sell at our on-site events and make joint decisions about how any profits they make should be spent. Individual progression for each client means that skills relevant for each person are identified and worked on and new skills learnt are recorded and celebrated through our Awards scheme. Clients also have the chance to work towards externally accredited courses in Food Hygiene. Progression routes for people joining Cook, Lunch and Learn include the chance to gain further work experience in our Farm Shop Cafe and to support our evening banquets for members of the public. Each day the team meet they will produce their own lunch and then produce other tasty treats to take home to enjoy with family and friends.
