Cumberworth Lodge prides itself in providing excellent palliative care. The staff at the Home are trained to high levels using a range of Training Providers along with in house training. The staff team have QCF qualifications ranging from level 2 – level 5 in End of Life care along with hospice training, specialist distant learning and e-learning.

At the Home we use a variety of person centred tools to establish personal preferences and wishes. We can guide people through difficult end of life decisions around medical interventions using Advanced Care Directives and thus avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions in the last weeks or days. The Home uses nationally recognised care pathways, including six steps for End of Life care, spiritual, physiological and pain relief pathways.

The co-ordination of care given by the Home is supported by an excellent GP service, District Nurse service, McMillan Nurses, the local pharmacy and all the local churches. The management and staff at Cumberworth Lodge recognise this is a difficult time and we can offer a range of services including overnight stays, food and drink, quiet areas and of course always having excellent caring people on hand.
