Philosophy

Our aim is to provide a service that offers support and stimulation to help people we support maximise their potential physical, intellectual, emotional and social capacity within an individual person-centred plan.

People have the right to have the respect of those who support them.

The friendly and homely atmosphere we have created at Horncastle Care Centre ensures that the people we support are able to continue their lifestyle with personal privacy and dignity.

The peace and tranquility of our lovely residence and gardens are enjoyed by those we support who are confident of the high standards of care.

Facilities

Horncastle Care Centre is made up of two bungalows each with nursing facilities for ten people. Maple Lodge has been designed for adults with neurological conditions and acquired brain injuries while Willow Lodge provides care for young adults with learning and physical differences.

Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and there is track-hoisting throughout. A hydrotherapy pool is available for all those we support.

Care

Nursing care is of prime importance and is provided 24 hours a day by qualified staff under the personal supervision of the Registered Manager. Local GPs visit the service regularly and are on call at all times.

Catering

Our experienced chef prepares interesting and homely meals with attention to individual requirements and any special dietary needs. Mealtimes are important at Horncastle Care Centre and great care is taken to ensure that meals are attractively presented and elegantly served.

Therapy Input

SHC retain the services of a range of therapists - physiotherapy and reflexology are available on request. Experts are available to advise on any aspect of an individual's care, recreational pursuits or environment.

Activities

The activities programme is one of the most important aspects of life at Horncastle Care Centre. A huge range of activities are undertaken by the people we support including handicrafts, quizzes, reminiscence sessions, cookery and arts and crafts. The key aims of the programme are the provision of mental stimulation, continuation of hobbies and interests and also prolonged mobility.

Training

All staff undertake an induction programme at our training academy when joining SHC. In addition, a system of supervision and support for staff enables them to gain experience and increase their skills. Extensive in-house training is provided by the SHC training team and QCF courses are undertaken in conjunction with local colleges. The Care Certificate is available to all new staff.
