Description
St Wilfrids is a day service for vulnerable people who may suffer mental health problems or learning difficulties. In providing welfare services and a raft of educational activities including a skills workshop, we hope to help people overcome barriers of social exclusion and provide them with the opportunity to improve their quality of life. Clients come from throughout Sheffield. We welcome all people, regardless of creed, culture or race and can assure you of a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Numbers and Maths
Come with us as we start out on a journey – a journey where together we’ll unlock the day’s puzzle by using numbers! Each week you can join us to explore the magic of numbers. Through games, role-play and exercises, our Numeracy course will help you grow in confidence when using numbers at home, in the shops and out in town. By joining our small and relaxed group you’ll find all the help you need to make the most of numbers and basic arithmetic so that you can make choices that suit you.
On the Numeracy journey you’ll start to recognise all kinds of numbers and use them in everyday situations, you’ll count money and estimate costs, check change and read receipts, you’ll read timetables and programme times and convert the 12 and 24 hour time clock to make sure you don’t miss your favourite TV show, but best of all you understand simple fractions - and this way, you’ll know just how many pieces of pizza you need to cut for sharing with your friends?...
