Description
Deep tissue massage, as the name suggests, is massage of the deeper soft tissues. Deep tissue massage largely employs hands free techniques, using the forearms and elbows, powered by body weight, to achieve a deeper pressure. The soft muscles of the forearms are used to apply long, slow strokes, while the bony areas of the forearm and elbow are skilfully used to manipulate and release specific areas of tension in the muscles and fascia. Using Deep Tissue Massage, much depth and precision can be achieved with minimal discomfort, compared to methods that extensively employ the fingers and thumbs. It can be performed as a stand-alone treatment, or integrated with holistic therapeutic massage and other sports and remedial techniques and aromatherapy in a made-to-measure massage.
Deep tissue massage may be performed either with or without oil and can be adapted to work with clients fully clothed.
