An innovative approach to dementia support- these four sessions are spread over 8 weeks. For two hours each session the person with dementia can join in a small craft group. Our experienced facilitator work in an intuitive and gentle manner. These sessions will provide a variety of activities to engage and involve everyone, supporting individuals to express their emotions and skills in a way that best suits them. With an imaginative approach to communication, we will share memories and reminisce through photos, music and props. Exploring creative techniques such as collage and the printed word, we will work towards creating a unique memory journal for each person to take home and which can be added to over time.


At the same time the person who cares for them can attend a session in the same building focused on relaxation. This group is led by an experienced complementary therapist and carer support group facilitator. Attendees will explore different methods of relaxation. They will be able to receive mini-treatments in therapies such as hand or head massage, Reiki and other healing techniques and Bach Flower essences for emotional balance.

We are running two of these courses with the intention of starting a drop-in craft session which will be open to anyone who has completed the four initial sessions. At the same time there will be discounted therapies available for people with dementia and the family or friends who care for them.
