Description
Help us to make Rotherham ‘a great place to grow older’. If you have some time to spare you could make a real difference to the lives of older people in Rotherham.
If you enjoy meeting new people, are interested in the wellbeing of older people and work well alongside others as part of a team you might like to volunteer with us. Our roles are great for a retired person who would like to stay active and give something back to the community or for someone looking for valuable work experience.
Getting involved as a volunteer could also help you to:
• have opportunities for meeting people and making new friends,
• develop and learn new skills;
• share your skills, knowledge and experience with others;
• develop and realise your potential and discover talents you never knew you had!
Age UK Rotherham is an independent charity whose charitable objectives are to make the lives of older people in Rotherham as fulfilling and rewarding as possible. We are a truly local charity helping only older people in Rotherham. Each year we have to raise substantial funds to enable us to continue to support people to the level we do. To find out more about what we do please take a look around our website.
Age UK Rotherham currently works with many volunteers who are essential to the work of our organisation and it would be true to say that we could not provide our wide range of services without their support.
We have a variety of opportunities for volunteering with Age UK Rotherham and these are listed on our website: http://www.ageuk.org.uk/rotherham/how-you-can-help/
What can volunteers expect from Age UK Rotherham?

• The role will be supervised by a named member of staff
• An induction to AUKR and to your role
• To be given ongoing support, supervision and relevant training to enable you to undertake your role
• Agreed out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed on production of receipts/tickets etc.
Volunteers are guaranteed the support of Age UK Rotherham staff and are not expected to deal with situations with which they feel unable to cope. The key to volunteering is that volunteers are able to define the type of work they feel able to undertake.
