Hockley Skills Development Centre is a purpose-built council run Day Centre providing Services for adults with learning disabilities and complex care needs including Autism, Epilepsy, physical disabilities, profound and multiple learning disabilities.

Hockley SDC has a track record of continually improving the service we provide.  We pride ourselves on supporting our citizens to not only engage but develop their skills.  We do this by being an ‘enabling hub’ & having an enabling approach to all we do.  We have a range of enabling activities including;

- Food tech (Pizza Tuesdays, baking sessions & campfire cooking)
- Independent living skills (choosing your own clothes, personal hygiene)
- Complex care – wheelchair positional change & sensory interactions.
- Fitness & wellbeing – exercise groups, adaptive bike sessions, hula hoops etc.
- 12-week art attack certificated art course.
- As well as many cultural events & celebrations throughout the year.  
- Citizens IT room with apple macs & projectors, ipads & internet access.

We have a friendly & welcoming staff team that have continual personal development training throughout the year.  Our day centre is a warm & welcoming as well as offering care suites that fully support a person’s physical needs. 

The service is available Monday - Friday 09:00 – 16:15
