The home is of a brick structure, within the home there are two levels. Access to the home is at ground level and there is easy access in and around the home for wheelchair users.

On the first floor there are 8 spacious bedrooms all with en-suite facilities which include a walk-in shower, toilet, wash basin and wall mounted fittings, Also on the first floor is a fully equipped bathroom.

On the ground floor there is a large kitchen with modern fixtures, a large open plan living / dining area and 4 WC, one of which is purposely designed for individuals with mobility problems. The home has 2 ground floor bedrooms which have en-suite facilities these also include walk-in showers, wash basins and toilets. There is an activity room which includes a WC, there are 3 gardens to be enjoyed, all of which are private, 1 garden has a patio area with a seating for service users who smoke.

The location of the Ivy Lodge is central to all local amenities, these include General Practitioners’ surgery, pharmacy services, supermarket, shops, library, sports centres, banks and post office. The home is situated on a main bus route where regular buses travel to all local towns i.e. Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster and Sheffield so easy access to all is possible. There is also a train service within walking distance from the home that facilitates good community links to all local and national areas.
