Description
St Wilfrids is a day service for vulnerable people who may suffer mental health problems or learning difficulties. In providing welfare services and a raft of educational activities including a skills workshop, we hope to help people overcome barriers of social exclusion and provide them with the opportunity to improve their quality of life. Clients come from throughout Sheffield. We welcome all people, regardless of creed, culture or race and can assure you of a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Little Issue (Newspaper Group)
The Little Issue is a news-sheet that contains news about the St Wilfrid’s Centre, quizzes, puzzles, poems, jokes and articles. These are all gathered, written and edited on Monday mornings when the group get together and work on the latest edition.
This group is best for those who can already read and write although you will get support to improve your skills as part of our Literacy Programme.
There is a wide range of abilities in the group but always we spend time discussing issues of interest as well as writing our views, ideas and feelings about these issues. You will be helped to widen your vocabulary by using a thesaurus and improve spelling by using dictionaries. We read our work out to each other, listen to what others have written and offer support and ideas for making the most of the Little Issue group.
The group chooses which pieces they would like to see in the next edition and everyone gets the chance to see their work in print.
