Speakup has produced an accessible DVD for people with learning disabilities about Gastrointestinal Cancer called Belly Ache. This is a kind of Cancer which can happen in your stomach, throat or in your bottom. There are a lot more people with learning disabilities than anyone else affected by this type of Cancer. A lot of them dont get the right help straight away. This can be because they dont know what the signs are or that they dont know who to ask for help.

This DVD will help people get the right help if they are worried about Cancer or are having pains in their stomach which might mean going for tests.

This accessible and clear DVD has been produced by Speakup, a Charity which is celebrating 25 years of working with disabled people. The DVD has been produced by professionals working in partnership with disabled people. The DVD can be used to support disabled people, people who find written language difficult, older people and particularly people with learning disabilities and/or autism. It can be used in one to one, group work or by individuals to inform about important lifeskills, to overcome communication barriers or as a tool to encourage discussion and debate.
